Hi there! New to the forum and decided to sign up just now after spending hours having a read of everyone's posts! This seems like the place to be!

Okay - so I'm planning on investing in Brasil - and am currently drawn to Joao Pessoa (due to research, although have never been there!)......there is a site I've found called <snip> which is listing local property in and around Joao Pessoa.....I like the look of it but has anyone local got any views on this company or and advice. Every other site I find is listing new developments that I'm not really interested in to be honest.

I lived in Rio for a year and a half and am dying to move back to Brasil. Rio is too expensive so I find myself looking for other areas. I'm not looking for high-end off plan apartments - just a nice little pad in decent proximity to the beach in an up and coming and very safe area?! So - any Joao Pessoa people out there - I welcome your advice.

I'd ideally spend give or take 4 months a year in the property and the rest of the time rent it out to locals or acquired friends. I want somewhere nice and cheap, but with good potential that I can work on!

Basically, I don't know where to find decent, trustworthy property listings in the area!?

Many thanks!

Whatever happened ?. Four or five years ago this was being heavily promoted for holidays and property 'investment', with agents falling over themselves to promise not just 5 star resorts, but 6 star resorts & hotels, luxury restaurants, world class golf courses etc. One Irish developer was supposedly buying two 747s to carry the thousands of Irish tourists expected to flock there.

Nobody bothered to question how they were going to attract the calibre of staff needed to make these claims reality, to a third world group of islands off the coast of Africa.

Ernie Els was supposedly heading up a €2 billion golf development. I read today that even the best course in Cape Verde has mud brown 'greens'. Hardly world class. As for flights, Thomson seem to fly several times a month (circa £500 return) from Gatwick to Boa Vista, but I couldn't find any direct flights from Dublin.

Hardly the booming market promised. I wonder how the promised guaranteed rentals and buybacks - as advertised elsewhere on here - panned out ?.

Is there anyone out there who invested at Al Jawza Project of Tameer at International City? I signed a purchase contract with Tameer in June 2006 for total property value of AED626,920 with promised delivery of 2 bedroom apartment in June 2007. The first delivery schedule was delayed and re-scheduled to June 2008 then to April 2009 and finally the project became ready for hand over just last 12 March 2012. I paid a total amount of AED470K till Nov 2008 and now Tameer is forcing me to pay the balance without discussion of compensation which is totally unfair. If i did not follow the payment schedule given to me by Tameer I am pretty sure that I will be penalized but now that Tameer was delayed by more than 5 years Tameer was simply telling me to pay the balance amount without compensation at all? I paid interest to the bank while trying to meet the payment deadline of Tameer therefore I am seeking compensation against the amount I paid to Tameer from June 2006 till Nov 2008.

Anyone out there facing similar situation and what sort of action I should undertake now?

Appreciate receiving your opinion.
