I'm sure most people on this forum will remember the famous '80s acronym DINKY, Double Income No Kids Yet.

It would seem now that BARBies are the new emergering trend, as reported in Assetz Property News Service.

The article says, "The solidity of the French property market while all around is being credit crunched has been one of the major stories of recent times...

...the acronym stands for Buy Abroad, Rent in Britain and is a new trend that has emerged in French property investment"

Hi Gerry

How true .... Barbies ....

A good proportion of enquiries we receive are from people who are tenants (renting their main homes in UK), and are buying a property in France. Their plans to use it as a holiday home and eventually to make the permanent move over here.

Something else though .....

From those equiries, we are noticing there are a significant number who have a mortgage on a UK property but are letting that property out and receiving rental income from it, whilst they themselves are paying rent for their own main accomodation. Again their plans are to buy a property in France and use it as a holiday home and eventually main home.

This just goes to show that the standard of living for most people is increasing. I guess we shouldn't complain about rising prices...
