Default Tax system in Goa

Hey ,
I am a Norwegian that is considering moving to Goa. I am a consultant and can do all my work from my PC as long as I have access to WWW via broadband. This means that I will be earning about 50 K? annually. I expect that I have to pay tax in India. Can anybody tell me how much tax I have to pay? In addition I will have about 500 K? in a Norwegian bank that I will earn interest from, is income from interest taxable in India?
Thank you

Default Tax system in Goa

Hello Benjamin
It is my understanding that you will have to pay tax on money earned when in India. It is quite complicated but it seems to work out at about 30 %
There are some ways of paying less and saying consultant is one although this is changing a lot and a lot of things are becoming taxable. Most folk here have an accountant who does all the tax
Income from abroad is more complicated and depends I believe on the relationship India has with Norway etc
Good luck
