Is moving to Goa a good idea?

Hi
We are Canadian and have applied to emigrate there. However, our application is by no means certain to be approved (a bit short on points) so we are looking at alternative places to visit with a view to living permanently, i.e. Goa, being one. However, I would like to hear from people already living there with some advice.

We are in our 40's with a daughter aged 14. We intend to keep our house in the UK until we are certain it is the right place for us. We intend to rent initially. We can bring an income of approximately ?11K per annum with us (approx ?17K if we rent out our house in the UK)
