Default Tangier Expo 2012

As i understand we will know if Morocco gets the Expo 2012 on Mon 26th Nov 07, i'll post an update when i get further info; ExpoMuseum / Expo 2012

If Morocco does get the go-ahead I anticipate hugh developments in the northern region, Tangier itself is already seeing hugh developments, Tangier Boulevard was been recently released, for more info see sales section article; http://www.propertycommunity.com/forum/moroc...html#post19414

The bad news is that South Korea won, no expo for Tangier 2012.

But this will not stop the building boom in Tangier.

Default Expo

Let's face it the chances of Tangier getting the Expo was always pretty slim anyway. It was just talked up by people wanting to sell property there. I've been to Tangier and there are things I like about it but I am quite sceptical of property investment there.

I know people go on about major resorts being developed with 3000 units, golf courses etc. But think about the rental and re-sell market. The summer peak season is about 2 months. The re-sell market is almost non-existant. So don't listen to developer's who put up prices by 30% or whatever. You try and re-sell a unit with your 30% increase in price!!

It is NOT Spain and will not be in our lifetime. The cultural differences with Europe and the fact that Tangier is 3rd world will prevent people from moving to live and retire there like they did in Spain.

Tangier of course would have like to have won the Expo 2012 but this will not stop the boom that started well before a Expo 2012 was announced.
There are underlying reasons for this boom, i.e Tangier Med Port that is now operating. Making it this biggest Port in North Africa.

Also you have other government backed initiatives like Tangier City Centre project that has still not started that will add a lot of value to the area.
The new Tangier station that is already built, will have a super fast connection linking the 2 economic giants of Morocco Tangier with Casablanca.

Also they are plans for a potential Chunnel tunnel linking Punta Malabata in Tangier Morocco Africa with Punta Palomas, in Spain, Europe.

With regards to Roksy comment that the beaches of Tangier are polluted and not suitable for swimming this is incorrect,
Tangier has many beaches one of them The Achakar Beach is a Blue Flag beach.

The beach by the current Port may be currently polluted but this will change as the current ferries that enter from Spain will be diverted to the Tangier Med Port,
leaving the Tangier port open for pleasure purposes and yachts.

The other comment that the rent season is very poor is also very inaccurate, of course the busiest period is the summer, this is usual in most Med destinations.
In the summer period when it is most busy, renters of high quality 2 bed units can expect up to £100 per night.

Renters also have the other option of long term rentals to either the local growing middle class Moroccans or business professionals who are increasingly relocating to Tangiers
because its is a free zone or because they can outsource their work to the French and Spanish speaking Moroccans.

Roksy by the way I am one of these supposed thief's who promotes Moroccan property, and I like you am originally from Tangier Morocco but now based in London UK.

I look forward to a friendly discussion with you. if anybody would like further information on Moroccan property or Morocco, feel free to send me a personal message.

thank you for your reply ,i am sorry for using the word thief, but i know what i am talking about, Tangier main beach is contaminated with more than 15years of abuse,(sewage and chimical waste) so it will take more than 20 years to recover, and that is nothing to do with the port. in another hand as you stated they will divert the ferrys to the new port which is in an area known for the cristal clear water if you are from tangier you know how we love the DALIA beach (new port) and with your own word that were the next contamination is happening. well done

Year round season is the core aim of the main Plan Azure development at Sadia.

People will retire there, French in particular. The site is massive and ultra modern with a hospital and endless activites.

The neg heads on here have got it all wrong, as ever.
