Default Qatar good for living?

My husband has a job possibility in Qatar. I know very little about the area, but have been told it is "up and coming" and "what Dubai was ten years ago" and much more of the like... but none has REALY been able to tell me what it is like to live there as an expatriate. We currently live in Singapore, which is EASY to say the very least. I have to admit, I am a bit hesitant when it comes to LIVING anyplace in the Middle East, not only because of the state of things today politically, but also due to being female. Would someone please give me some details based on EXPERIENCE in Qatar?
Thanks
Alexa

Hi
I'm in the same situation as you. So won't really be able to help you. I'm female maths teacher. From what I?ve heard I don't think we will have a problem, only the usual stuff like cover up and respect the culture. Me and my family are looking to move there hopefully in the summer if we get the jobs?! I was told there are a few expats there. It looks very nice. Though a lot quieter than Dubai. And not much of a night life. That's all I know so far but I?m hoping other expats will start replying.
Check out the website Qatar - The Official website of Qatar - Qatar Tourism Authority - Experienceqatar.com Just tells you about the place not expats version
Thanks
Mathew
