Default Where to buy in Portugal?

I'm currently renting a place in the Algarve and am thinking of buying somewhere in Portugal. But at the moment I am not convinced the Algarve is the place to buy. I can't see there being much capital apperciation, its already too expensive and with all the building going on I'm sure the supply is going to outstrip demand. I remember the days when it was impossible to find a place to stay here in August, now its not a problem at all. The days of full occupancy are gone!

Can anyone suggest any other areas in Portugal I should be looking. I know all the talk has been about the silver coast but I am considering Espinho. Its still relativly cheap, about 120K euros for a 3 bed apartment, and with ryanair flying to Porto I think prices should rise as the Brits discover it.

Does anyone know what the long term rental market is like in that area. The plan would be to rent out the property and use the income to pay my rent here in the Algarve. Maybe even leverage it and use the rent to pay a mortgage on a one bed place here. Two for the price of one!

Espinho is very nice. But i suggest you, e.g., Aveiro, Matosinhos and Figueira da Foz. Beautiful places. I have some appartments in all this cities and if you need help please contact me.

With growing popularity and increasing property prices in the Algarve, the returns to be made are very attractive. If you couple that with the great, all year round, rental potential, the question is not will you make money, is how much will you make.
Are you aware of what's going on in Vilamoura, Stª Luzia, Tavira, Castro Marim and Vale de Lobo? I tell you what, there are other hot spot's in Portugal, no question, but think about this for a moment; the bigger slice(much more then 50%) of touristic income in Portugal, comes from the Algarve. Some of the best golf courses in the world and world class beaches garante both winter and summer visitors.
Again, there's a lot of hot spots in this country, but there's only to places where return is garanted; Lisbon area and Algarve, all the rest might be a wild guess on the long term. An Lisbon?...talk about high prices...you don't whant to take that avenue!
Best of luck...feel free to send me a PM if I you have questions

Hi, my colleague is based out on the Algarve and has done alot of research into where to buy, for us personally and for our clients. We sell property to clients back in the UK through Financial Advisers, so it is important that we get it right.
As has been said already, the Algarve is probably still the safest place for returns in the longer term because it has it all. The west is where we have 2 developments currently, and this area has not been developed at the same rate as others on the Algarve. If you want to chat with my colleague out there, Nick Chessman, feel free to drop me a line at pete@offplaninvestmentproperties.com

central portugal, around coimbra is probably the best place to experience the "real" portugal while still enjoing reasonable weather - if that is what you are after.

Default Silver coast - Portugal

Hello,

I think you might reconsider the silver coast. You can still buy property at good prices at about 20 min. from the coast. Happy to answer questions.

To whom it may concern:
My name is Orlando Ferreira and I have the pleasure of presenting myself as the RE/MAX Berlengas real estate consultant, located in the city of Peniche (Portugal). Our city has not one but seven magnificent beaches, and a very good climate to live in. If you are looking for a good place to invest in come discover this region where property is still affordable.
Like our slogan says “Nobody in the world sells more real estate than REMAX”
Best Regards
Orlando Ferreira
