Default silver coast climate

Hi All

I'm thinking off buying a house on the silver coast. One of this things that appeals is that it appears to have a mild climate throughout the year. I understand that it is cooler than the Algarve. However, are the summers still what you would class as "mediteranean"? I wouldn't want to buy into an area that doesn't offer summer conditions that are comparable to mediteranean countries.

Thanks

well on the coast, you do get slightly lower tempretures because there is normally a wind off the sea, which brings the temp down, nice in the summer but could be cold in the winter.

It´s cold in the winter indeed but nothing abusive.

In summer, I love the climate in this area. I´ve spent some holidays in Nazaré and it´s hot and nice during day and night

When you say cold in winter, what are we talking? 10-15 degrees?

We visited the Silver Coast in January and walked on the beach in tee shirts and shorts! That is unusual for that time of year. As a general rule of thumb, the Silver Coast is 5 degrees cooler than Algarve and slightly less predictable.

Last May was gorgeous (25 degrees) and August was cooler (20 degrees and cloudy), although again that was unusual.

You will get a breeze throughout most of the months. It really depends on your ideal climate. Personally I prefer 25 to 35 degrees and for that reason, that's why we love the Silver Coast and have personally invested there.
