Default This appers to be a quality forum - happy to be here.

My name is Chris Edwards and I am seeking advice and like-minded people with property investment intentions and knowledge of the RE market on the Costa del Sol.

I am a nightclub operator looking to expand our portfolio of assets here in Spain with properties we can acquire and operate as f&b/leisure businesses.

The RE market here in the south coast of Spain has been softening considerably for the past 15+ months and still has not hit bottom, it seems. I am hoping to find some input from individuals here that have knowledge of the market here and can help with some friendly advice.

This post is not a solicitation for any deal or commercial interest. Looking for feedback from like-minded people with common interests.

Respectfully,
Chris Edwards

Welcome Chris, put an word out on a seperate thread.
For the record Chris, you are putting out a mixed message.
1. You want to expand assets
2. You dont want to pay anyone to help you do that, ie. you want friendly/free advice.

Good luck, keep messages consistent and put a thread out to Costa Del Sol.

Default "Free" advice?

It was my understanding that this forum was not a commercial marketplace. Have I misinterpreted something somewhere? I am looking for people that have had experiences with commercial properties in this market as my time here has been limited.

Should I, then, be offering to pay you for the forum facility? Perhaps I should be openly pitching my deals and looking for investors in same here? The reason I joined here was to get a view that is hopefully less one-sided than you're likely to find with the 'experts' in a given market.

Pardon me for not offering something of greater value than a friendly exchange. Mixed signals, Mr. Moderator? You may wish to check your Forum Usage and Rules once more.

Chris, Relax.
Of course everything in life is commercial. You work to live like every one else. Charities still need money to survive, we live in a capitalist world, money makes the world go around. (as well as love of course), you dont have to pay me for the forum facility but you can pay the owner Bob Sheth, if you wish to advertise.
Friendly exchange fine, that is what the forum is for. And lets not be rule fixated (it must be something about English people only being comfortable if there are alot of rules around), the internet is suppose to be a community for freedom of expression, ideas, dialogue, unfortunately though the legal beavers are at work, and you have to be careful now what you say otherwise one is liable to be sued. Or allegedly, you can be sued.

On a lighter note, ask your questions, and enjoy the experience, you can Private Message for things you want outside of the forum. ie. not for public digestion. Good luck.

Punta Cana is an area that has great beaches but there was nothing there before the government started promoting it as an all inclusive hotel enclave. Driving there is like driving through the cornfields of Kansas. (BORING)

There is basically no Dominican Culture there as everything is brand new.

I am NOT a Punta Cana type person but that being said the area is developing rapidly and I expect prices to rise. I have read that there may be some sort of problems in the specific development you mentioned and you should always be MORE than careful in a country not your own.

My life is centered around the North Coast of the Country so it is almost like asking a New Yorker for advice in California. Same country but a completely different area.

The topography here is very interesting. Mountains run down to the beach. There are some very exclusive gated communities here that are the top communities in the caribbean such as Sea Horse Ranch and Haciendas El Choco.

Here on the North Coast we have NEVER had a hurricane touch down here and this country IS in the Hurricane Belt.

The east and south sides have been hit many times. I don't like hurricanes and that is one of the reasons I picked this area to settle down in.

One thing about the Dominican Republic is that it has 7 international airports which is a lot for a Island Country. We also have different eco systems that run from Desert to Mountains with Snow with a mean temp of 82 degrees Farenheit.

Hope this helps a bit.
