Greetings to all I have not spoken to yet. My name's Dave, and I've been on here for about a week now, and it's very interesting. Even though it's filling my head with so many ideas, I think it's about to explode!!

Looking forward to some more chats, with the experts

Cheers,

Dave

Hello Darren, thanks for your introduction.

Embarrassingly I think my introduction is long compared to others - I am not really sure if it is here to post my questions - but I am dying to get some information and direction in the following few weeks with the help of your site.

I was born in Canada but have been self-employed in England for more than 25 years, and I do have a British passport. Now I have just moved to Italy - my mother is Italian from Rome - but still have problems getting that residence permit after being here for more than a year! The medical coverage is the "sticky" issue even though I have been paying it fully in England!

We are left in a state of limbo, not resident in any country - except for my mother - without medical cover etc. So we are thinking about either France or Spain to move to but I will need to start some kind of small business just to get into the health system.

There seem to be a lot of changes recently in Europe on residence permit and health care cover and pensions etc. Just trying to move to another country in Europe for Europeans is still quite difficult.

I just came back from Denia, Spain and later I may go over to Perpignan, France to take a look at the area.

In another post I would like to ask questions on some of these issues if I may - because I have a feeling I was only meant to say "hi" on this post but I over did it.

Anyway thanks for your patience and a "hi!" from me.
wolf.

Default Wolf hi

For starters Wolf your introduction is not so long, and if you wish to edit it you can on the edit button.

Second getting into health systems , I guess by this you mean Government or Free health systems, rather than private medical ,where you pay and get service with private providers.

I think if you want free medical from government bodies you have to go through the respective routes. To become resident in a country, is normally quite straight forward.

For example if you live and work in Spain and pay taxes you are automatically resident. In Italy I guess like Spain it is very bureaucratic and a year to get into the system is probably to be expected. It is not Canada it is Med. Lifestyle culture, though if you speak to a immigration expert it may be easier. maybe the problem lies in your nationality and being originally non european.

What is the big thing with the medical situation anyway?.

Best is to speak to a migration expert in the country you wish to go to. A lawyer who specialises in this area.

Regards Dc.
