I personally believe choosing an estate agent working in your own country is the safest. You can get a guarantee from them that nothing would go wrong and in case of any problem,

The last person to be arrested was irish, he tricked his own,!!

You could try knocking his door.doubt it will be opened for a long time,

Kevin O’Kane was taken in by police in Didim and taken to Bodrum yesterday for questioning about falsely marketing 41 villas at Golden Beach Villas, at Imbat Bay, in Altinkum.
Voices Newspaper Altinkum Didim Turkey - Irishman questioned in £10 million "property scam"

Again i will post a warning, DO NOT GİVE,any money/deposit etc, etc.untill you have spoken with a GOOD SOLİCTOR. that can speak english,

And please try to visit Turkey, before you decide to commit your self into any property deal,

We are an estate agency in Gumbet Bodrum and we have here many properties available at reasonable prices. There is a very large amount of ex-pats in Bodrum and Gumbet who all enjoy getting together at any opportunity.
It would be good for you to come here on a holiday to see the area and the type of property you can get for your money and what sort of rental you could get for it. You may even make a few friends and contacts.
We hope to see you here some time and share a cup of tea with you.

Hi there, you will find that Turkey has much more than Spain, weather, people, prices etc. I am an English lady who lives and works in Kalkan on the Anatolian coast, I came on holiday here several times before relocating. There is a strong expat community here, therefore lots of support in all ways. The Turkish people are wonderful and so incredibly helpful. I am an estate agent, am I allowed to say that and prices start at sensible prices which would mean you do not need to sell your UK property. Come on a holiday to begin with and just travel a little in the region. The inspection trips are often pretty pressurised for you to buy. Take your time. Hope this helps.

Hi Bethmol,

As a fairly recent arrival on the Turkish property scene I understand your uncertainty. However, Turkey is such a wonderfully diverse country that I am positive you will find the area you will feel most comfortable with.
One of my clients that purchased in Belek, on the Mediterranean Coast, with her husband often goes on her own for quite long stays, and says she feels as safe there as at home. Having been there quite a lot over the last year and met some super people, I must say I am not surprised.

Hi,

I agree with blue sky, it is better to have an agency from UK so the first inspections will be made through them.
We are a development company and we prefer to work with an agency to find us clients.Bridges always make the ways easier and quicker.

And it is better to have a holiday in Aegean coast and Mediterrean coast sides.
So you can have an imagination in your mind for which part is suitable for you.

As a summary I can say that the best priced properties are in Altinkum-Didim where you can have a private villa around £80.000 and apartments around £40.000.It is a small seaside town, quite and calm, friendly people but crowded in summers as all the other holiday seaside places.Nice weather not so humidity like the other seasides..

Bodrum is more luxury and expensive comparing to Altinkum and more people living permenantly so the possibilities can be much more..Airport,hospitals,schools,marina,etc..

Kusadasi has more population but the prices are not so high as it is in Bodrum. It has marina as well.It has a warm wind which refreshes you.It is much more like a city with its wonderful view..Only 1 hour to Izmir.

If you need any help, I am always here to reply your questions..
Regards,
Cagla

Thumbs up where to start continued !

Hi Mouse again, It is not just one area where there are good prices, all areas have something going for them. I live and work in Kalkan, which is called the Beverley Hills of the coast, and I have apartments starting from £40,000 to villas at £650,000 so price is not so much the issue the quality of the area is a priority depending on the use of your purchase. Take your time and visit several places, look at the quality of the build, future building works, the type of people the area attracts! All these matter! Good luck

I agree with Cagla and Mouse that all areas have their strong points. I sell properties ranging from £15k for an Apartment in Altinkum to a plot of land on Sovalye Island opposite Calis Beach for £170k and on to a villa in Kalkan for £730k.
The main thing is to know where you want to go.

Terence

Mouse again. I think you have to look at the sort of holiday makers the area attracts, some of the properties may be cheaper, but so are the rents these sort of tourists pay. I have to say buying quality attracts quality. Although I am in Kalkan which is gorgous I agree Izmir is fabulous, I spend a lot of time there in the winter. Take a slow trawl down the coast and see it all.

Mouse,

I could not agree with you more about quality. Currently I have a couple of good builders offering a bona-fide rental guarantee on apartments. The apartments are in good areas (different regions) and the rentals are run from the resorts. They rent out because of location and build quality. The investors I have owning these apartments are more than happy with their purchase.
I know a lot of builders just hike the price up to offer a "rental guarantee", but the good ones do not need to.
