I like this article so I thought I'd share it. It's a very general overview of the TDRs and of general interest to potential investors in Turkey's Aegean coast. Don't forget, all the areas in between will also benefit from the neighbouring TDRs.

"Turkey’s investment in Tourist Development Regions (TDR) has meant that new developmetns in North Antalya, Cesme and Didim amongst other areas have benefitted from improved access routes and a better tourism infrastructure. The aim is to attract more tourists to these regions, but it has also been a draw for many property investors.
One area which has been of particular interest to property buyers is the area around Izmir in Cesme. The TDR is located 80km from this thriving city centre, and will occupy 10,400 hectares. Plans include tourist accommodation for 72,000 beds.

The Bodrum coast, a favorite with holidaymakers and property investors, has led the area around Didim to qualify as a TDR. Located 90km from Bodrum airport, the area will also be linked to Bodrum and Altinkum by a daily ferry. The 12,000 hectare site will provide tourist accommodation for 5,000 tourists, many of whom are expected to come to visit the historical temples of the area.

The proximity of these areas to airports and the improvment of road infrastructure means that hitherto insignificant undeveloped towns could soon be major tourist resorts. One small town in Didim, Akbuk, will soon be accessible from Bodrum airport within 35 minutes drive, making it a popular choice for those who want to be on the beach as soon as possible with minimal travelling time.

The development of hotels, golf courses and marinas planned over the next few years in these areas has provided a further lure for property investors with an eye to the future. The prospect of shopping centres, restautants and bars, health clubs, sports facilities and helicopter pads, as well as ferry services to Kos, Samos and Patmos has made bargain properties in developing TDRs potential golddust for investors."
