Default Waterside Apartments - Dalaman anyone else bought one of these?

Hi, new to the site, so hello everyone )

We have bought an apartment just outside of Dalaman, it should have been ready by now and just wondered if anyone else on here has bought one?
Thanks

Default Waterside apartments

Dave and Jane Fennell
We have bought 2 of these apartments and we are beginning to think we have made a mistake. We have been in since before building started and our contract gives a completion date of November 2006. Every time we visit there seems to be little progress. At one time we were getting a monthly report but that stopped some time ago.

Hi Dave and Jane

Good to talk to someone else buying these apartments, we agree they are lovely and should be a good investment, but like you we are worried about the time scale, we were told they would be ready for July this year, (originally told verbally March 2007) but the contract says July.We are reluctant to pay the next payment until they meet their obligations.
Have you paid it all? or installments like us?

Where do you live, we are in Devon, it would be good to keep in contact.

There is a clause in our contract which means that we are paid compensation if the development is late, have you spoken to anyone about this ??

Which Block have you bought in; we are in Block B2 which is the furthest from being finished. The last report we had was that the plastering was done and the tiling and it was ready for the windows to be fitted; but that was 2nd week in August ( a month ago now) so we will let you know if we get any further reports.

Default Waterside Apartments

Hi
We have A1 and A2 the top 2 in first block as you go in. We have paid our first 2 stage payments but have not been asked for the last one yet which implies they are not finished. We are dealing with Jonathan as well and were promised photos back in May which we did not get. Our understanding is that we will still get compensation if the development is not finished on time but in view of what Jonathan said when we asked to pull out your guess is as good as mine as to if we will get it. We are going out on 24 September for a week so I will give you an update when we get back. It would be good to swap emails but this site does not let you do that. We live in Kent.

According to the experience it is highly unlikly that you going to get a compensation in the case of delay, it is very usual for a builder to be late, and in your case you are guessing that they don`t have enough money to finish it even. Where do you think they going to find money to compensate a late finish, plus - you need to multiply it to the number of appartments in the building and thats going to be alot of money to pay out - it is just not going to happen, they going to stick to the "force major" or any other excuse! - One thing I can suggest is When the appartment is finished get an official to measure sqm of the flat as it is very usuall to be smaller than clamed on the PPC and this case they must compensate you the difference, or in case if its bigger - you`ll have to pay abit more to them (highly unlikely)

sorry if this post is abit disturbing, but atleast you know what other people been trough.

Regards

Dave and Jane,
It appears your builders are in breach of the contract, Talk to your solicitor,

My advice is dont go for the Ikea package, not only are they very over priced and far away, you can quite easily pop into Dalaman town and pick up the furnisher you need, curtains are expensive so try to bring them out,you can get them here, also believe it or not cushion covers (plain or contempary) are hard to fınd, other than that no probs, get your own white goods again they charge too much (comman in Turkey) and much cheaper with a quick visit 10mins into town.
