Default Abu Dhabi or Dubai???

Hi,

I?m a mid 30's single brit moving from the Cayman Islands to the UAE, I?ve been offered a job in Abu Dhabi but it seems the place to be is Dubai. Is Abu Dhabi dull compared to Dubai? The company has offices in both, should I try and transfer?

Thanks
Jackson

Default Abu Dhabi or Dubai???

Hey, I live in Abu Dhabi... Been here about 8 weeks. Abu Dhabi is dull compared to Dubai. Definitely. But that doesn't mean there aren't things to do. You can find nightclubs and movie theatres and single expats to hang with... you can even buy liquor/beer without a license at the local Spinney's if you smile the right way. But I and most of the people I know tend to go to Dubai if they're looking for a break or a night to release the steam...
Thanks
Jaime

Hi Jackson.

i have spent most my life in the UAE (28 years to be specific).

i witnessed all the evolution and break through develpment that transformed the country from a desert to one of the most seeked business and leisure destinations.

i live in Dubai, and have been living most of my life in Dubai.

Dubai is the city of all the hips and haps, yet, and as a long resident of the country, my choice will be Abu Dhabi, its not Dull at all, but its not as crazy as dubai.

Abu Dhabi is no. 1 as the capital of the world, its GDP forms more than 70% of that of the UAE GDP, its more sustainable than dubai, and living there is much more quiet and prestigious.

Abu Dhabi has less traffic, and is more organized, wide roads, parks everywhere, very friendly and the cost of living is cheaper than dubai (except for property which is similar).

I would choose Abu Dhabi on Dubai, and if you dont like it, its only 1 hour drive from Dubai.

cheers and good luck in your career.

The best part is that the traffic in Abu Dhabi is not crazy like Dubai

With current plans Abu Dhabi is likely to be as congested as Dubai in 2 or 3 years, probably more so.

Thats why they are introducing Metro, Monorail, Inter-Emirate Railway. Hopefully things will change soon.
