The Flaxby Country Club



The Flaxby Country Club, when completed, will be one of the key hotel resorts in the UK and “The” Destination in Yorkshire. The target market sector for the development is the 5 star plus bracket that currently includes Gleneagles, The Grove, Celtic Manor and The Belfry.

Rather than a simple hotel development The Flaxby Country Club will be a Dubai style resort development in the heart of rural North Yorkshire. The resort will include a 5 star plus hotel, a 27 hole championship golf course, a luxury spa, a number of restaurants including a fine dining operation and a variety of bars, boutiques and conference facilities.

These elements of the development are further explored below:

The Hotel

The hotel with 303 rooms, ranging from 320 sq ft Double Rooms to the 2500 sqft Presidential Champagne Suite, is the heart of the development and will prove to be an attraction for both UK and overseas golfing and luxury travellers as well as the high end business user.

The developer is now only weeks away from announcing an operator currently with advanced talks taking place with numerous operators. These companies include Intercontinental, Four Seasons, Wyndham, Grand Millenium and The Trump Organisation.

Once completed the hotel will fill a huge gap in the market for high end luxury accommodation with only one other 5 star hotel currently trading in Yorkshire.

The Spa

The luxury spa facility at The Flaxby Country Club will be arranged over 2 floors with a total of 25000 sqft and will include an indoor swimming pool, numerous private treatment rooms including VIP and double treatment rooms and a state of the art gym.

The Spa will be operated by Elemis Elemis | Home Page who operate exclusive Spa facilities in London, Miami and Hong Kong and run the Spas in Harvey Nichols.

The Golf Course

The existing 18 hole 72 par European and US PGA level championship golf course at The Flaxby Country Club has been recently added to with the new 9 hole Temple Course. The current excellent golfing facilities will be added to by the eventual Golf Operator which is almost certain to be Troon Golf Experience Troon Golf Luxury Golf Courses

The country club also boasts one of the best driving ranges in the area which is currently open 7am to 9pm under flood lights and this will develop into a 24 hour facility once the hotel is open. As testament to the quality of the course and the confidence in the long term success of the project Yorkshire Forward www.yorkshire-forward.com and The Yorkshire Tourism Board have partnered with the developers of the country club to launch a bid for the 2022 Ryder Cup and the 2015 Solheim Cup.

The Restaurants

There will be 3 specific restaurants in the development which will be added to with the usual bar snacks available in the bars and with a café style facility in the Golf Club House

· Hotel Lounge Bar/Restaurant – This will be the main restaurant linked to the hotel and will be operated by the hotel operator and will be the venue for breakfast as well as lunch and evening meals for those clients wanting the classic bistro style hotel fair.

· Fine Dining Restaurant – This will be not only a superb compliment to the Country Club but will be a destination in its own right. They are currently in talks with one of the worlds best and most famous chefs to work with them to create a
venue for even the most experience diners and wine connoisseurs.

· Thematic Restaurant – This will be the final piece in the culinary jigsaw at The Flaxby and will be a franchised or managed version of a local restaurnant. They are looking at a range of options from some of the award winning local Dining
Pubs serving local produce to some of the amazing seafood restaurants our North Yorkshire coast line has to offer.

The Bars
Like the restaurants the bars arranged throughout the hotel will each offer a different experience to the client. They are talking to a wealth of companies to look at branding/operating each bar with a specific target market/experience. Some of the options currently being discussed are:

· The developer has met with Moet Hennessey and are in discussion with some of their world renowned brands Krug being the optimum but others include Dom Perignon, Veuve Clicquot, and Belvedere Vodka.

· Real Ale Bar – In the truest of Yorkshire traditions the developer are looking at a traditional English ale pub in the basement of the hotel and are talking to Black Sheep Breweries and Thornbridge Breweries www.thornbridgebrewery.co.uk.

· The developer are also talking to the amazing Crazy Bear Hotel group whose decadent interior design is hoped to lend itself to one of the bars in the hotel Crazy Bear Group

The Boutiques

To further extend the resort feel of the country club we will be installing a number of high end retail boutiques in the main body of the development. While no formal offers have been made at this stage the target brands are all of the luxury variety and include: De Beers, Rolex, Thomas Pink and Luis Vitton.

Celebrity Endorsements

The developer already has the retained services of Ashes Winning England Captain Michael Vaughan who acts as an Ambassador for the development. Initial talks have been made with a range of golfing legends with a view to launching the golf side of the development. The developer favours Ernie Els for this role and is in talks with the players agent.
