I think living in the UK is great, but I just got here and got very lucky with my renting situation. The problem is that the economy is at a slow down with the housing sector. This will most likely be the case to an extent in all of the western countries. It does not mean, necessarily, that you will not be able to make money. I agree with one of the previous posters who said "WAIT" !!
Most people agree that the property market in the UK still has a fair way to go before reaching the bottom. 1 - 2 years is the predicitions.
I've been waiting about 4 years for this down turn, and am now biding my time until I think the bottom has been reached. Even after the bottom has been reached I think it will be a very slow, gradual increase in prices. I don't think we'll see the booms of 2004 - 2007 in the UK for many years to come, if ever again. Too many lessons have been learnt.

If I was you I'd look to invest abroad for the short term.
Research is the key to investing abroad. It reduces your risk, and enhances profit.
Personally I've invested in Egypt. I did my research and talked to many people before buying in El Gouna. I've just brought again in Ancient Sands - El Gouna.

It's horses for courses though with investing. Mostly it depends of your investment criteria.

Yes, investing in UK is always been fine to have. I't's an nice decision made by you to invest in the UK property you could get good returns on property in UK, even you can get retns if you are going to buy a flat in UK that makes you an income if you buying an flat.
