Safaga Connecting Egypt to the World

Safaga is also known as Bur Safaga, or Port Safaga. It is a town about 65 km south of Hurghada. It is regarded as Egypt’s phosphate export center because it has a lot of phosphate mines.

Considered as Egypt’s main port, Safaga has a cruise shuttle service line connecting its marine port to Saudi Arabia and Jordan. A majority of yachts going into Egypt clear at Port Safaga. It is also the best place to leave a yacht, if the owner wishes explore Egypt a little more.

Safaga’s allure is its proximity to Hurghada, port access, and its claim as a therapeutic tourist centre. Safaga have always been considered as a merchant port. Now, its expanse of pristine sandy beaches and lovely islands is fast becoming a destination of choice for Red Sea Riviera tourists.

Vision and Planning

Safaga’s speedy development is due in part; to the fact that Egypt’s tourism ministry is undertaking an ambitious ports program. As an economic move, Egypt is looking to build Safaga into a Mega Shipping Lane, and a Tourist Mecca.  To take advantage of the opportunities for maritime transport and tourism in Safaga and the Red Sea, the Urban Planning Institute has formulated a plan that intends to expand Safaga’s 70,000 citizens and 3,300 feddans (13,860,000 square meters) by 2017. 130 feddans is to be allocated for workshops and industries, 312 feddans for district services, 459 feddans for tourism projects, 13 feddans for free zones and ports, 564 feddans for roads, and 1,379 feddans is being set for housing.

Socrates' Advice

If you're looking for a reason why you should invest on a property in Safaga, you will be barraged with a lot of financial and economic data. However, if you follow the advice of a very intelligent man named Socrates, you will never go wrong.

In 399 B.C. before Socrates died, he asked everyone to travel to Egypt and be cured of anything that ails them.  He told everyone this since Egypt is the root of Europe's humid and colder weather. Millenniums later, Physicists are nodding in accord. This is the type of therapy that has made Safaga so popular among the British.

Safaga grabbed hold of Socrates recommendation of climate therapy and banked on the fact that their sea water is celebrated for its mineral riches, and high saline content which works wonders for the skin, and its popular curative powers. As a matter of fact legend has it that Queen Hatshepsut who had psoriasis frequented Safaga to bathe in its waters and be relieved of her skin problem.

Bath, which is located in Britain's own backyard is well recognized for its curing waters, so you may ask why not go or invest there instead? To fully comprehend Safaga's therapeutic atmosphere, one must know facts about Safaga.

This city by the Red Sea is enclosed with high mountain ranges that act like a barrier against sand storms and winds, consequently the air in Safaga is untainted of hovering stains that absorb or divert the ultra-violet rays which are essential in psoriasis therapy.

The beach of Safaga is in the shape of a sheltered bay. Its sea is quiet of turbulent waves, further echoing the ultra-violet rays from the water surface inland. Moreover, the excessive and abundant subsistence of coral reefs increases the water's salinity in water up to 35%, which is in contrast to the Mediterranean's 22% of saltiness. When you bathe in the beaches of Safaga, your body will float because the water is denser.  Therefore, there is lesser gravity.  This phenomenon improves your blood's circulation, hence increasing the flow of your blood to your skin and limbs, furthering psoriasis treatment.

Aside from skin disease and skin inflammations, Safaga also lays claim to treating joint edema, joint effusion, chronic arthritis, and rheumatoid arthritis. All these are thanks to the black sand of Safaga which is composed of clay because of the sands blown over from the Red Sea mountains and tidal areas. Safaga's black sand consists of 3 radioactive elements with average concentration: potassium, thorium, and uranium.

Rebirth Into Real Estate and Property Market Magnet

Through Egypt's Port Developments project, it managed to attract foreign investors and infrastructure developments for Safaga. In the past, downtown, Safaga didn't have much to show for. All they had were a few budget hotels like Aida and Cleopatra. The city's marine port is only busy during the pilgrimage season.  Basically, Safaga had one long street of modest grocery stores and baladi cafés.

Egypt's move of investing massively in their port sector has turned Safaga into a major tourist centre, and international shipping and trade route. Egypt has always promoted itself as a trading nexus, located at the crossroads of Europe, Africa and Asia. The Suez Canal's construction cemented Egypt's position as a shipping realm. The government of Safaga is currently taking advantage of the fact that they are one of Egypt's main ports of call.

Today there are numerous hotels and resorts that have been built along Safaga's Shorelines. Residential flat buildings, and resort homes are also popping up. Egypt declared that foreign and private capital is welcome.  Its extreme desires have attracted giant financiers, as well as smaller investors. At present Foreign investors  are playing a big role in Safaga's economic development. Financiers in approved ventures are assured of facilities for withdrawal of capital, employment and employment papers needed for foreign crews, and transfer of profits.

Although Egypt's economic standing is currently on the boat, its real estate is soaring to an all time high. The prevailing rate of the Egyptian pound against that of the British pound is 11.0975063 L.E. to 1 British pound.  This is a driving factor that makes Safaga real estate so attractive.

You will get more for about 20,000 British pounds if you purchase a property in Safaga rather than in London. Plus, since tourism in Safaga is at an all time high other British vacationers are looking into property subleases which you can very well do to generate continuous profit for your property while it is not in use.
