Krabi - A City with a Rich Historical Background and Tourist Attractions

A small town located near the mouth of the Krabi River, Krabi is a small, laid back town where one can spend a nice time connecting with the history and culture of the country from long ago up to the present. Krabi is also considered as the capital for the province of the same name. There are lots of theories regarding the background of this town, and though they all differ, what they do agree upon is that inhabitants of this area come from times long gone, leaving evidences of their existence and daily life behind.

Location and Geography

There are plenty of mountains surrounding the area of the town of Krabi. Level highlands are a common feature of the topography, and so are plains in which most people put up their houses in. The province itself handles over one hundred thirty islands and islets, located in the Andaman Sea of Thailand. The forested areas of the island are chiefly mangrove trees, mixed with cassia trees. The forest is also home to the natural resources of the locals available for export, which are mainly rubber products and coconuts, being the main agricultural output such a case that almost all other island provinces in Thailand possess. On the technical side, there are eight sub districts that divide Krabi into portions, and together, the province encompasses four thousand seven hundred square kilometers of land area. The total number of residents in this province numbers at more than four hundred thousand people.

Weather Conditions

The weather patterns in Krabi follow that of a typical tropical zone. There is only a wet and dry season to contend with throughout the year, and the heavy rainfall occurs mostly during the monsoon season of the year. The actual occurrence of these monsoon winds may vary from time to time, but the hot season follows a pattern of starting around November and ending about April. The high end of the temperature readings in Krabi are at around thirty-seven degrees Celsius, with the bottom end at fifteen degrees. All in all, rainfall is at two thousand six hundred mm yearly.

Getting Around the City

You can travel within the town quite easily through the use of local taxis operating there if you don’t know the area quite yet. Mini buses will also take you to most popular destinations, and they only charge a pittance compared to the buses in modern countries. Of course, you could also do with a rental car to make the best time during your travels.

Local Attractions

You’ll definitely want to visit all the attractions that Krabi has to offer to its visitors. From the island hopping through the various small islets that dot the seaside, to inland activities everybody can enjoy, Krabi is complete. The main draw to the city is because of the Phi Phi Islands, six islands having different topography types, making each one unique. Tours for these islands run by day, and rates vary depending on where you’re going.

The beaches are another attraction in the area that can’t be dismissed when considering a vacation in Krabi. You could go for simple fun like a simple swim on the beach, or you could go deep sea and have local instructors teach you the finer points of diving if you’re a novice diver. There are several beach areas to choose from, whether it’s inland or on one of the islands dotting the landscape.

For those with inclinations toward extreme sports, Krabi does not disappoint with its hosts of activities for the brave hearted. Rock climbing courses, in place since 1992, are a favorite of experienced climbers searching for a new thrill. And if speed is your thing, then you’ll want to try out going on a speed boat tour of the many islands here. Kayaks and canoes are also available for a slower, yet equally thrilling water adventure throughout the island. Diving and snorkeling are also nice ways to spend your day in the island touring.

Investing in Krabi’s Real Estate

When compared alongside its sister island systems, Krabi would seem more behind than its other neighbors, although when viewed in a different light, it would only mean an opportunity for some because of the possibility of having a first crack at the market in Krabi properties. Klong Muang is one of the top contenders when it comes to prospective development areas, mainly because there are already modern buildings like the Sheraton Krabi in place and operational. Andaman Holiday resort is also located in this island, and with these two big names operating in Krabi, it wouldn’t be a stretch to say that there are lots more projects underway in the island, and once word leaks out to the general public, the values of property in the island will shoot up. It’s better for the investor if he or she can go ahead in this industry.

Ao Namao, famous for its close proximity to the Gastropod Fossil in the area also has an excellent beach and is definitely worth scoping out. As of now, it’s still being developed but with more incoming people, they won’t be able to keep up without upgrading their systems. Unique properties are up for sale in the island, and you can really feel that you’re living in luxury, having a property that is right for your needs and budget. Hotels are another major contributing factor when it comes to the fate of the real estate market of the island, as there are lots of developments concerning the town’s urbanization and renewal of the market values after those buildings have been put up. One can even go big and instead of renting a hotel, pony up the cash to buy your own luxury villa. For an investment, this would yield far more profits than if you were to leave your money with a bank or financial institution. It’s also a far more enjoyable way to spend your money, as you can actually use your property, unlike banks where you can’t even feel that you actually have the money because it’s the bank that’ll be using it.
