Real estate transactions in Canada continued to fall in July with a drop in sales in British Columbia and Ontario particularly noticeable, according to the latest figures to be published.
A slowdown in these two provinces pulled national sales figures down, says the report from the Canadian Real Estate Association.

The number of newly listed properties and real estate sales in general are falling in Canada, according to the latest figures to be published.
Seasonally adjusted sales activity decreased by 8.2% in June from the previous month, the data from the Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA) shows. The decline was led by lower activity in Toronto and Calgary, but sales fell in almost 70% of local markets.

Residential property sales in Canada and new listings are slowing in a trend that will keep the real estate market balanced and prices stable, it is claimed.
The latest figures from the Canadian Real Estate Association (CREA) show that activity fell nationally by 9.5% in May from near record levels the previous month. This is put down to a combination of changes to mortgage regulations and rising mortgage rates pulling forward a number of sales in April that would otherwise have taken place at a later date.

Residential property prices in Canada are fairly stable but could fall by 10% in the next two years as real estate is overvalued and higher mortgage rates are expected, it is claimed.
Prices are at all time highs, but the number of homeowners looking to sell has created a glut of inventory and anticipated higher mortgage rates and stricter qualification rules threaten to price more people out of the market, ultimately driving prices lower as fewer buyers compete for what's available, according to analysts.
