A rise in the service tax on real estate completions in India is expected to have a temporary impact on sales, according to industry commentators.
The service tax of 10.3% on 25% of the property’s value is being passed on direct by developers and means a buyer paying an extra 2.6% on projects under construction.

The recovery in the real estate market in India is well underway with prices increasing across the country.
Property prices in the national capital region (NCR) have increased by up to 54% during the first three month of this year due to higher demand, according to a study from realty portal 99acres.com.

Premium residential property is back in vogue in India as developers plan more projects to keep up with demand, it is claimed.
Good economic prospects, more jobs and a growth in salaries is leading to an improvement in the real estate sector and in particular demand for high quality, premium housing, according to JC Sharma, managing director of Sobha Developers.

After ditching luxury property construction during the global recession, developers in India are again returning to the high end of the market as demand rises.
According to consultants Jones Lang LaSalle Meghraj and Knight Frank India there are about 7,000 luxury apartments to be delivered within a year in Mumbai alone.
